December 16, 1999 OPC Data Access 2.0 Components Readme File The FactorySoft OPC Data Access Components package installs the Server Browser, the Data Access 2.0 proxy dlls, and the Automation dll in the System directory. This installation can be freely redistributed with your products. It can be used to install the OPC components needed for your server. It can also be used on client computers that will run custom or automation clients. Automation -- The Automation interface has been completely redesigned and implemented. The new interface is easier to use from Automation languages, easier to understand, and it is general purpose. Server vendors no longer need to create an automation dll for their server. FactorySoft wrote the Automation interface sample code for the OPC Foundation and we provide a standard Automation component based on this code for redistribution. Server Browser -- This COM server returns OPC Servers by Component Category. It can be used to find Data Access 1.0 or 2.0 servers, in addition to future OPC servers. Because this is a COM server that can be run remotely, clients can now get access to remote servers without local registry entries. Please stop any OPC servers or clients running on this computer prior to installation.
