MailBridge ~~~~~~~~~~ Why this thing exists `````````````````````` Have you ever been behind a (corporate / university / whatever) firewall ? No POP access ? Reading / writing emails via a web interface ? But you prefer a real mail client ? This tool (together withthe server sided stuff) tunnels the POP and AMTP traffic through a HTTP connection which easily passes the firewall. It acts as a local POP and SMTP server, so you can use your favorite mail client to receive and send your mails. Instructions / Installation ```````````````````````````` Make sure you have at least Java 1.4.x isntalled on your client system otherwise MailBridge wont work ! Copy the server stuff (in the moment php only) to your server, change the settings in the config.inc.php filev and modify the local mailbridge.properties file (especially proxy and URL of your own server). You can add new profiles by adding them in the properties file. The included "mail_test" profile works, you can use it for testing and playing around. Due to heavy code modification not much of the original thing is left but it was a nice help to have a working POP and SMTP server to start with.
