Description Hcplot is a simple Matlab GUI that quickly produces a 3D animated plot of the hypocenter, centroid and nodal planes. The code is self-explanatory, easy to use on an intuitive basis. It is possible to produce also a movie for presentation purposes, independently of the Matlab environment. Installation Just copy the distribution files in a folder, run Matlab and through the Matlab command window navigate to the folder that contains the hcplot files. Then run hcplot. If needed add the hcplot installation folder to Matlab path in order to be able to call the code from any folder. The code was made using Matlab 6.5 but it should be compatible with newer versions. Use Hcplot is simple. The user types in the proper text boxes, the coordinates of the hypocenter and centroid (lat,lon,depth), plus the strike and dip of the nodal planes. If needed a simple text file with a family of possible hypocenters can be added in the plot. This file is a simple text file with lat, lon text (the text is optional) and has a default filename (moreepi.dat). An example file is given with the distribution.
