README file for the Java Network Animator (J-Nam) The Network Simulator (NS-2) is one of the most widely used discrete event simulators for networking research. NS-2 provides support for simulating various network and transport layer protocols such as TCP, IP routing, and multicast over both wired and wireless networks. Our tool, J-Nam, provides an improved interface to the NS-2 simulator by graphically generating network simulation Tcl scripts and animating simulation results on top of the network topology. J-Nam is written in Java (Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 5.0 is required) using the Java Swing API. Thus, J-Nam will run on any platform for which a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) implementation exists. J-Nam was created in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Colorado at Boulder by Kevin Bauer and Pushkar Sambhoos under the direction of Dr. Douglas C. Sicker.
