(Aqua-Lab is a testbed that provides field testing experience in a lab controlled environment. Aqua-Net is a network solution that has open architecture and can be used to implement efficient communication systems. By Aqua-TUNE, we mean a platform used to experimentally uate the algorithms and pro- tocols developed for underwater networks in real world scenarios. NAMS, a networked acoustic modem system, is also introduced in this dissertation as an integration effort at further improving the performance of underwater wireless networks.)
