-------A simulation framework for power management over femtocells in LTE-A systems--------- This is an extension of the MATLAB simulation framework for LTE-A systems, which allows power management over user-defined deployed femtocells. The framework is able to perform power control over the existing femtocells deciding their power levels, according to various integrated power management schemes. For each case, the resulting throughput is calculated for every point of the integrated femtocell/macrocell LTE-A network and is presented in a user-friendly GUI. ------------------------------------INSTRUCTIONS------------------------------------------- The simulator is written in MATLAB version R2007b. It should run smoothly on later releases of MATLAB, though it has not been tested exhaustively. To use the simulator, please follow the steps below. 1)Type mainlayout in the command window. Alternatively, open mainlayout.m and click the 'run' button in the MATLAB menu. (You should first set the current directory of MATLAB accordingly). 2)When the interface appears, provide the inputs you want for each of the fields shown. More parameters can be made available through the 'Advanced' button. When finished, click 'Apply on Map'. 3)Click on the map where you want to set the positions of femto base stations. When all femto- cells are in place, do the same for the positions of femtousers. After each femtouser placement, click on the femto base station it is subscribed. Click where you want to place the macro users and make sure a valid option for the 'Additional User' field is selected. The latter is the field that determines which user's throughput we calculate for every possible position of him on the map, and it is mandatory for the simulation to start. Finally, press 'Run Simulation'. 4)When the calculations conclude, the map is colored accordingly. Click on any point on the map, for details on the findings for the specific spot(the results do not appear immediately but within seconds). The option for printing the result is available. 5)Choose a different power scheme and click 'Run Simulation' button, if you want to apply it on the same topology and configuration.
