INSTRUCTION ON USING THE MIMO PROTOTYPE 1. Hardware setup - The HP frequency generator has to be set at 918.300 MHz, +13 dBm. - The attenuator switches at both the transmitter and receiver can be used to change the SNR. In up position the attenuation is off. One switch attenuates 10 dB, the other 20 dB. In total it is possible to attenuate the signal by 30 dB. The location of the .out files are: \DSP\Mimo\Transmitter\Debug\Transmitter.out \DSP\Mimo\Receiver\Debug\Receiver.out 2. GUI At the moment it is only possible to use the transmitter. Dont forget to launch the Install.exe file before using the MimoHost file. It can be found in the folder: \GUI\Install This program copies the ActiveX control NTGraph.ocx into the system32 directory and register this file in the windows registry. Launch the MimoHost program in: \GUI\MimoHost The setup.ini file in \GUI\MimoHost contains the path to the .out files downloaded by the host. Absolute paths as well as reltive paths are accepted. - Choose a file to transmit - Select MIMO because SISO has not been implemented yet. - Choose your synchronization rate - You can check Turbo to enhance the communication between the host and the DSP - Load the program must be checked the first time, it loads the program file into the DSP memory - The show CCS window checkbox shows/hides the Code Composer Studio window - Click on start to download the download of the file to the DSP and the transmission over the air 3. MATLAB Two kinds of simulation are available, by simulated channel only within MATLAB or by real channel with hardware. Open chain.m and set parameters. set real_ch to 0 if you only want to simulated within MATLAB, otherwise set real_ch anything else. When simulating with Hardware, open CCS first and load the function DSK6713_rxtx.out, run it. Then double click on the file DSK6713_Host_rxtx.exe. A windows commend window will show you how the interface with the DSP board works. Turn to MATLAB file chain.m and set real_ch to 1, run it. you will see many commend lines appear in the windows commend window, that means the PC is sending data to the DSP.
