------------------------- mySimpleAds (c) 2006-7 ClipperSoft ------------------------- Installation Instructions ------------------------- Fresh Install ------------- {1} Unzip the mysimpleads.zip archive (make sure to unzip leaving the directory structure intact). {2} (optional) Create a MySQL database and MySQL user account that will house mySimpleAds. This can be done through your webhost with tools such as phpmyadmin or cpanel. You can use an existing database if you would like. The mySimpleAds tables are all prefixed with 'mysa_', so they should not run into any table conflicts. {3} Open 'config.orig.php' in your favorite text editor and fill in your database details, including database hostname, database name, and database username and password. Also enter your filesystem path information in the path setting. This is the physical file path to your mysimpleads directory, without the trailing slash. Finally, save the file as 'config.php'. {4} Copy/FTP the 'mysimpleads' folder (and all its sub-directories) to your website. {4a} (optional, but suggested) Go say 'hello' to your significant other (or life size cardboard cutout of Spock, as the case may be), so that they don't think you love your computer more than them (we'll keep the truth between us.) {5} You will need to change some permissions on your 'banners' directory under your 'mysimpleads' directory and your 'stats_graphs' directory under your 'mysimpleads/admin' directory. *If your host uses PHP in CGI Mode (see footnote 1): On your website, using your FTP program (or through an SSH connection), change the permissions on the 'banners' and 'admin/stats_graphs' directories to '755' (read and write to all.) (*nix command of chmod 755). *If your host does NOT use PHP in CGI Mode (which is more often the case) (see footnote 1): On your website, using your FTP program (or through an SSH connection), change the permissions on the 'banners' and 'admin/stats_graphs' directory to '777' (read and write to all.) (*nix command of chmod 777). {6} Download the latest Free GeoIP binary database from MaxMind. Direct Link : http://www.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoIP.dat.gz Download Page : http://www.maxmind.com/app/geoip_country {7} Then un-gzip with WinZip or the like and FTP upload the 'GeoIP.dat' file to the 'mysimpleads/geoip' directory. {8} Open up your favorite browser and point it to the 'mysimpleads/install/index.php' script.
