Summary: SOLID SAP is designed to perform static, linear, elastic analyses
of three-dimensional structural systems. The program has flexibility of
applications to structures which contain combinations of structural
element types. The capacity of the program depends mainly on the number
of joints in the system. There is practically no restriction on the number
of elements, number of load cases, or the 'bandwidth' of the equations to
be solved. Despite large system capacity, no efficiency loss is encountered
in solving smaller problems. The report contains a discussion of the use
of incompatible displacement nodes with solid elements and the use of the
static condensation algorithm.
The following element types are included in SOLID SAP: three-dimensional
truss, three-dimensional beam, plane stress and plane strain, two-dimensional
axisymmetric solid, three-dimensional solid, plate and shell, boundary, and
thick shell.
