Simple Video Player for Oculus Rift =================================== This is a simple video player based on Unity3D that allows playing video (2D or 3D side by side). System Requirements ------------------- - Video card compatible with Direct3D 11 - Oculus Rift - Windows 7 or later - optional: VLC 2.x Command line arguments ---------------------- RiftVideoPlayer [Movie filename] [-sbs] Use -sbs for 3D side by side video. All arguments are optional. If you do not provide a movie to play, you can select one from inside the player. Navigation ---------- Gamepad/Key Function Start/Backspace Show/Hide main menu A/Return Select item Left/Right Jump between items Up/Down Used in listbox to select file L1/PageUp Move screen up relative to current position (rotates around) R1/PageDown Move screen down relative to current position (rotates around) Analogue/WASD Move around Remarks ------- You have to calibrate the magnetic sensor of the rift by looking into all directions. After that the on screen hint will go away. This prevents drifting of the screen over time. Before you select a movie for playback, please select the display mode (2D/3D). The player uses VLC if it is installed (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VideoLAN\VLC\InstallDir is set). Otherwise it will use Windows Media foundation, which will result in some files not beeing able to be played. This is free software and I encourage you to use everything you may need of it, to build event better software. Source code ----------- - Unity3D files are in RiftVideoPlayer.unitypackage (v4) - Media playback library sources are in the folder UnityMovie You need Visual Studio 2012 and Windows 7 SDK to build it. With some modificatios it should also build with earlier Visual Studio versions. - Remember: This is a quick hack I did in my free time. So it may work or it may not ;) August 2019 Daniel Sabel
