This matlab directory contains 1. Matlab functions bark2lin.m and lin2bark.m for converting between uniformly sampled spectra and spectra non-uniformly sampled according to the Bark frequency scale, and 2. Matlab code for reproducing figures in the paper @ARTICLE{SmithAndAbelSAP99, AUTHOR = "Julius O. Smith and Jonathan S. Abel", TITLE = "{Bark} and {ERB} Bilinear Transforms", JOURNAL = "IEEE Tr. Speech and Audio Processing", MONTH = "November", PAGES = {697--708}, YEAR = 1999 } A pre-publication version may be found online at http://www-ccrma.stanford.edu/~jos/bbt/bbt.html GENERATING THE FIGURES The main matlab file is figs.m Just run matlab in this directory and type "figs". NOTE: The script needs to be run TWICE, first to generate .mat files, and second to use those files (circular dependence). If Matlab's load command hangs trying to read a nonexistent .mat file on the first pass, you can create an empty file of the desired name. By default, figs.m prints all figures to disk in postscript format without pausing. The configuration variables at the top of figs.m can be set to pause after each figure for online viewing. Any files not executed directly or indirectly by figs.m, bark2lin.m, or lin2bark.m should probably be regarded as "noise".
