DESCRIPTION This project features the design of a smart electronic meter for home power consumption, which will provide locally and remotely real-time and average readings in a simple user interface. The meter employs an 8-bit microcontroller which will interface with an energy measurement analogue-to-digital converter, a real-time clock IC for date/time keeping, an inexpensive Graphic LCD with a resistive touch-screen interface and an Ethernet controller to host a small web server. The proposed solution is intended to be a low-cost/power solution to be employed in single-phase power lines by means of a current transformer and a simple voltage divider for current and voltage measurements.
