Different decompressed sound effect and compression ratio can be got by selecting different oversampling ratio (O.S.R) and brightness. Every lossy Compression method will introduce noise. For PCM, ADPCM and other types of time-domain method, the noise behave as Quantisation Noise (not enough bit) and Aliasing Noise (not enough sampling rate). BD&C's propriety Adaptive Sigma-Delta Compression method scramble BOTH Quantisation AND Aliasing Noise into white noise which is more comfortable. 8 to 1 bit Compression method processes only WAVE file. Inputfile should be mono, PCM and less than 12KHz WAVE file. And decompressed file is mono, PCM and 16-Bit WAVE file. Sampling ratio is less than 48KHz. Usage: This package includes two applications: SDC.EXE and DESDC.EXE. SDC.EXE is the compressing application. It outputs encoded file *.PFE and decompressed file in WAVE format. DESDC.EXE is the decompressing application only. You can run it to decompress *.PFE file. SDC.EXE and DESDC.EXE works under Windows version. Run Mode: Compression application SDC.EXE usage: SDC infile.wav encoder.pfe listenfile.wav O.S.R. brightness (O.S.R. should only be 4, 3.2, 2.6, 2.2 or 2 and brightness should only be 0, 1 or 2) Unmpression application EDSDC.EXE usage: DESDC decoder.pfe listenfile.wav If all the files used in this program are in the same directory, path name can be ignored.
