input files are the same as for regular Occam, except that
2 lines are added to the end of the startup file (and to
the end of each ITER file)
also:
1) each row must have the same number of columns
2) use 2 PE grids for each row since there could be sharp contrasts
between adjacent units (since we're not explicitly smoothing these
away)
use same data as was used for the smooth example
