------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SEC2.x Security Core Device Driver - Release Notes version 1.2 27-Jan-2005 sec ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Overview: Release 1.2 contains mostly minor changes to release 1.1.1 based on acceptance feedback from the prior rev * Removed unnecessary non-padding IPSec request types. Maintained typedef-ed names for reverse compatibility * Fixed up a series of obsolete names * Expanded DPD dumper functionality, fixed some minor issues with header dumps * Fixed cleanup issues with driver unload * Fixed the incorrect location of the global inhibit bit for PQ2 * Expanded AES descriptor types ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Limitations: * This release has been tested on version 2.4.27 of the linux kernel for PowerPC, using an ELDK 2.1.0 distribution. No other kernel versions have been verified. * Driver has been built with GCC 2.95.3 (from linux-i686) and a WindRiver issue of GCC 3.3. No other compilers were used. * Driver has been verified on an MPC8555E processor, using an ADS8560 rev A. No other processors have been verified at this time. * Driver has only been tested as a loadable module; inclusion into a kernel image has not been verified. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Known Issues: * Scripts for creating the device inodes must be performed manually at this time. As delivered, the driver requests a dynamic major number upon module initialization. It is up to the operator to manually create a new char device inode named /dev/sec2, with the dynamically assigned major number. The minor number should remain zero. * Driver is not instance-safe, only one instance can run. * Support for new SEC2.1 (MPC8548) requests exist, but are as-yet untested. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Release history: * 1.1.1 (16 December 2004) - removed some unnecessary diagnostics * 1.1.0 (05 December 2004) - First LinuxPPC release * 1.0 (June 2004) - First issue of driver after adaptation from SEC1.0.
