Installation -------------------------------------------------------------------- To install the OpenFlight API: 1) Exit any instances of Creator as well as any other OpenFlight API based applications that are running on your computer. 2) Run the OpenFlight API Installer located in the OpenFlight API installation folder on the product distribution CD: OpenFlightAPI Install\setup.exe 3) Follow the directions in the installer. The OpenFlight API can be uninstalled via the "Add/Remove Programs" control panel. II. Installed Directories -------------------------------------------------------------------- The installer will create a root folder for the OpenFlight API called OpenFlightAPI. The following directories will also be created during installation below this root folder: /bin - Supporting executables /doc - Online documentation files (see below) /dll - Dynamic Link Libraries /inc - C source header files /lib - Link libraries /sample_extensions - Sample data extensions /sample_plugins - Sample plug-ins /sample_rw - Sample stand-alone programs /sample_rw/bld - Project files for sample programs /sample_rw/db - Sample databases and textures /sample_rw/src - Source code sample programs III. Online Documentation -------------------------------------------------------------------- The MultiGen OpenFlight API documentation consists of three parts: 1) OpenFlight API User's Guide Levels 1 and 2: Read/Write 2) OpenFlight API User's Guide Levels 3 and 4: Extensions/Tools 3) OpenFlight API Reference Both user's guides are distributed in Adobe Acrobat format (.pdf) and included as part of the API installation. Acrobat Reader is required and may be obtained from Adobe Systems, Inc. at www.adobe.com. Acrobat Reader v5.0 is also included on the product distribution CD. To install it from the product distribution CD, run the installer located at: Acrobat Reader\rp500enu.exe The API Reference is distributed in HTML format and included as part of the API installation. The API doc directory contains the start page for the API Reference and a subdirectory containing the user's guides: index.htm - all reference pages are accessed from here /userguides - contains the user's guides rwusers.pdf - User's Guide Levels 1 and 2: Read/Write etusers.pdf - User's Guide Levels 3 and 4: Extensions/Tools IV.
