- - - - - I N S T R U C T I O N S F O R U S I N G B 3 P L O T 2 - - - - Type "B3PLOT2 fname HIS" to run the new history matching post- processor, POSTHIS2.EXE or "B3PLOT2 fname SIM" to plot simulated data only. In either case, up to 5000 time-steps are allowed, with a maximum of 1800 points (per curve) actually plotted. If you try to use more than 1800 points for plotting, you will get a warning, but can still complete the plot with 1800 points. On a subsequent run, you can select a starting time-step number and a skip parameter so that less than 1800 points are selected which cover the major time of interest. If you want hard copies, before entering B3PLOT2 you must first invoke the Graphics Converter Gold for Windows (GCGW) software provided with this package. NOTE: GCGW is third-party software than was purchased for BDM for use with BOAST3. It must be loaded and operational before attempting to get hard copy plots from B3PLOT2. Once GCGW has been successfully installed, the DOS screen capture feature may be invoked either from WINDOWS or DOS as described below: From DOS: Go to the directory where GCGW was installed (probably C:\GCGW) and type DOSCAP. From WINDOWS: From the main GCGW menu, double-click on the DOS capture icon. After the DOS screen capture feature has been invoked, go back to your BOAST3 directory and run B3PLOT2. When you get a plot on the screen which you wish to hard copy, press alt-del, modify (if desired) the default filename for the image to be captured, and press Enter. Repeat this process for each plot for which you need a hard copy. If, for example, five plots have been saved using DOS screen capture, you then enter GCGW (from WINDOWS) by double-clicking on the GCGW icon. Once in GCGW, just open the desired file and print it. Some helpful hints for getting hard copies using GCGW are as follows: (1) The first time you use it, set the following options to obtain the largest plot possible on 8 1/2 by 11 paper: a) Select Landscape b) Under Options, select the following: Max Width = 9 in Max Height = 6.7 in Fast Print Reverse black and white Reduce colors (diffuse) (2) All the options under b) above will be retained the next time you use GCGW; however, Landscape must be selected each time. (3) The options above were found to work well using a HP Laserjet III printer; different options may be found to work best with other printers or plotters. Note that GCGW will also capture COLORGRID images. Hence, if you have a color printer or plotter, you should be able to get color hard copies. For high quality plots for reports, you can import the ASCII files (HISPLT.ASC from POSTHIS2 or SIMPLT.ASC from POSTSIM2) into EXCEL or LOTUS.
