CeApiSpy for CE 3.x, 4.x, 5.x, PPC 2002, 2003, 2005, Smartphone 2003, 2005 Copyright (c) 2005 ForwardLab,Inc. www.forwardlab.com The technique of CE API interception was published in article "Spy: A Windows CE API Interceptor" in October 2003 issue of DDJ. Directory CeApiSpy contains sources to CE API Spy. This sample Spy is monitoring CreateFile, CreateProcess and LoadLibrary API calls. Directory MissingDllSample contains a trivial sample of and application and DLL. To test Spy, build Spy and MissingDll projects and copy CeApiSpy.exe, CeApiSpyDll.dll and MissingDllApp.exe to the device (don't copy MissingDll.dll). Then start CeApiSpy.exe and invoke Start command, then start MissingDllApp.exe. The application should fail to start because of missing DLL. The Spy should display traces of failed CreateFile call. July 2005 update: The application was updated to run on CE 5.0 and WM 2005. In order to run on a Smartphone it has to be signed with a privileged certificate. Since CeApiSpy is intended for debugging and testing purposes, developers can use test-only certificates, which come with PPC 2005 SDK or Smartphone 2005 SDK. Follow instructions in the SDK.
