Installation Instructions --------------------------------- Insert the CD in your CD-ROM drive. If AUTORUN is enabled for your CD-ROM drive, the program will begin automatically. If the Student Resource CD-ROM does not start automatically, complete the following steps: 1. Click the Start button. 2. Click Run on the Start menu. 3. Type D:\start.exe (where D is your CD-ROM drive). 4. Click the OK button in the Run dialog box. III. Contents --------------------------------- This Student Resource CD-ROM is for use on a personal computer with CD-ROM drive, and contains the following resources: * Readme File * Demos (Provided by the author.) -Circles: Demonstrates the movement and collision of two circles with the bounds of the screen and each other. -Matrix Vortex: Teaches familiarity with the various matrix and vector operations in a visually stimulating setting. -Transformations: Helps explain the principles of 2D transformations applied to an object. -1D Racer: Demonstrates the motion of an object with constant acceleration moving through space. -Cannon Physics: A demonstration in simple projectile physics. -Basement Billiards: A practical demonstration of 2D collision between circles. If you are not going to use the CD interface, you will find them in the "Browse" directory. * Web Links IV. Navigation --------------------------------- The main screen for the Student Resource CD-ROM enables you to access all the items listed in the Contents section of this Read Me. If AUTORUN is enabled for your CD-ROM drive, the program will begin automatically. If the Student Resource CD-ROM does not start automatically, complete the following steps: (1) Click the Start button. (2) Click Run on the Start menu. (3) Type D:\start.exe (where D is your CD-ROM drive). (4) Click the OK button in the Run dialog box and the main screen will appear. There are six icons on the left side of the main screen. Each icon, including any submenus, is explained below. A. Prentice Hall logo Click on this logo to open the main page of the Prentice Hall Website (http://www.prenhall.com). A browser (i.e. Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer) is required to open the web page. B. Read Me Click on this icon to open this Read Me file. It is a plain text file and should open on any computer. C. Browse this CD Browse allows you to view many of the files without installing them to your hard drive. Click on Browse to open a submenu with the items to be browsed. You can easily view the files, and print them from the Browse feature. However, you cannot edit and then save the files back to the CD-ROM. D. Demos - MatrixVortex opens a window that contains a "start.exe" file. Double-click this file to execute the program. - BasementBilliards opens a window that contains a "start.exe" file. Double-click this file to execute the program. - Circles opens a window that contains a "start.exe" file. Double-click this file to execute the program. - CanonPhysics opens a window that contains a "start.exe" file. Double-click this file to execute the program. - 1DRacer opens a window that contains a "start.exe" file. Double-click this file to execute the program. - Transformations opens a window that contains a "start.exe" file. Double-click this file to execute the program. E. Weblinks - Opens a window with the Weblinks.html file in it. Double-click the file to open it in a web browser. A browser (i.e. Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer) is required to open the .html page. F. CW LogoNavigator Click on this logo to open the Game Programming Series Website (http://www.prenhall.com/gamedesignanddevelopment).
