Hokuto no Rogue is a graphical rogue-like game set in the world of Hokuto no Ken.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

The game needs JAVA 6 or better version.
RUNNING THE GAME
----------------
In DOS environment, it is sufficient to prompt the following line from a command shell (once you changed directory in order to effectively be in the game dir):
javaw -jar -Xmx512M -Dsun.java2d.opengl=true HokutoNoRogue.jar
In WINDOWS environment, double click on the file HokutoNoRogue.bat
COMMANDS

ARROWS - movement/attack/default action
- [map view] map scrolling
- [in character attributes] up/dwn: select attribute; right/left: raise or lower statistics value
- [in character advancement] up/dwn: select attribute; right/left: raise/lower statistics value
SHIFT - [+ arrows or + enter] action/attacks menu
[+ pg-up/pg-dwn] cycle default attack locations
[+ enter] open "use" menu
[+ h] enable/disable hints
CRTL - [+ arrows] when in front of an opponent, shows localized attack panel
ALT - [+ arrows] diagonal movement
PG-UP - next default attack
PG-DWN - previous default attack
A - actions menu
I - Inventory
T - shortcut action "take" (lists objects on the location where the character is)
U - shortcut action "use"
M - map
L - log panel
H - commands help panel
>/< - go Up/Down level
F1 - Character Main Statistics (Attributes/Health/Experience)
F2 - Character Attacks/Techniques
F3 - Perks/Skills
F4 - Character Advancement
F5 - Quests status
TAB - toggles wall transparency
- [when viewing character panels] cycles between panels
- [when viewing custom character panels] cycles between groups
ENTER - (when equipping a weapon - eg. crossbow) select target (hit return again: attacks selected target with weapon)
- [in inventory] object menu
- [in Character Advancement] accept changes
- [in wilderness] enter area
SPACE - wait a turn
ESC - game menu
Use directional arrows to move the character and to execute default actions (open door, standard attack, etc).
Simple contact with an opponent will attack him; contact with a door will open it, etc.
Use SHIFT + directional arrows to open a contextual menu which allows various actions such as climbing stairs, taking objects or performing special attacks. (Eg: If an opponent in on the right, SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW opens an ATTACK menu where you can choose one of the character available attacks; if a row of stairs is on the left, SHIFT+LEFT arrow brings up the ACTIONS menu where you can select the "GO UP" action and move upstairs).
Use CTRL key + directional arrows will open a Localized Attack panel. Use arrow keys to choose which one of the opponent's body parts you want to hit and press ENTER to perform the selected attack.
